Artist Statement

My personal art practice is primarily concerned with nature, waste, and consumerism. My ongoing projects, Dangerously Decorated and Reduce, Reuse, Reframe, delve into the connections between these topics.

Dangerously Decorated focuses on the challenges faced and overcome by urban wildlife through the investigation of the man-made materials found incorporated into the nests of Chicago's avian residents.

Reduce, Reuse, Reframe is a series of watercolor paintings made in response to a specific frame. The artwork becomes the painting and its frame, as the frame inspired the painting and now cannot be separated from it.
